i knew this was a bad idea, i knew my cat would own this toy, but i thought it might be fun and wasn’t that expensive so would give it a try. bad idea. nearly immediately my cat was interested in the ball that hangs down (made of sisal), but as predicted about 20 seconds in once she figured out what was going on (she’s smart) she hung on for dear life and ran like hell. and as predicted, the magnetic vs 8lb cat: 8lb cat wins. the part that sucked was that as it separated from the top part it hits the ground making a loud thud scaring my cat, bounces and then flies over to the computer slamming against it (w/ the magnet) creating another loud thud, further terrifying my cat. she’ll have nothing to do w/ it now. i tried putting it on the metal frame around the front door and it works but also pulls off in a fashion that even scared the hell out of me.

i now realize putting in on a cardboard box (thinner) would have been a good idea (plus no metal nearby if pulled off). too late, but even if that was the plan if there was a screw that connected the two pieces of the device, rather than a magnet, that would make a vastly more reliable and superior toy. this one’s just bad all around.

I bought this toy at a store and was excited about it. The 2 sides house a strongmagnet, so you can “hang” it from any surface that is not thicker than 2 inches (by my trials). I set ours up on the dining room table and our cat went right under to play with it. He seemed to like the toy, but then he got his front arm tangled in the line and freaked out. He went running wildly, the toy trailing on the line. I was chasing to get him, fearful that if the line tangled on something it would rip his arm off. I managed to catch up to him and untangled him from the toy. He is now terrified of the thing, so I gave i to a friend.

My suggestion is that if you get this, make sure to NEVER leave it out when you are not near by. The toy is reall not bad, but needs a good warning on the box saying to NEVR leave it out with you away.
